The story

Martelli Fabiano Tartufi srl origins come from young adolescent Fabiano Martelli’s curiosity and intuition which was only 10 when he gets into delicious “tuber” research: it is in 1973 when he trains his first truffle dog.

In 1976, Fabiano Martelli obtains qualifying card for the truffle research and collection and he starts selling the truffle, daily harvested, on board his “Vespa”. For this, other local gatherers ask Fabiano to deliver their truffles, too. In this way, that will become the business of his own entire family. The work increases: in 1980, there is both the trading activity (done inside a small laboratory under the house) and the packaging activity of first kept truffles.

In 1987, this business gets a new boost thanks to the meeting with Ester, his future wife: indeed, they start taking part in the most important local and national truffle fairs. Now, the business needs new spaces and so, in 1991, the small laboratory is moved inside a new location of 150 square meters, keeping increasing and solidifying.

Their daughters, Silvia and Sara, were born and since they were little, they have been able to appreciate their own parents’ work; Fabiano and Ester expand their business more and more during the years; Silvia and Sara grow up, graduate and become a part of the family company. So, in 2017, Martelli Fabiano srl was born and its location is inside a new factory situated in the industrial area of Sant’Angelo in Vado (PU).

The territory

Sant’Angelo in Vado is a picturesque village, with little more than 4000 inhabitants, surrounded by Marche Apennines woods, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino.

This territory, so abundant in the production of high-quality truffles, has allowed Fabiano Martelli to get his own business increased and developped since 1976 to the present day.

Sant’Angelo in Vado is recognised for the production of Fine White Truffle (Tuber Magnatum Pico) and other truffle types which, during the year, according to the season, guarantee the presence of delicious tuber.

Every year, in the autumn, between October and November, there is the “Mostra Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco Pregiato delle Marche”, that is one of the Italian most ancient fair, behind only Alba and before Acqualagna.

Company policy

Started out as a sole trader in the agri-food sector, for over 40 years, the Martelli Fabiano Tartufi works at the buying and selling of fresh and frozen truffles, suggesting truffle-based typical products and other artisan specialities.

Become srl in April, 19th 2017 and signed the Registro Imprese up in May, 2nd, in August of the same year it moved inside a new factory situated in the industrial area of Sant’Angelo in Vado.

It is composed by 4 partners and 2 personnel and today the co-founder Fabiano Martelli with his wife Ester is the sole representative and administrator of the company.

Even if, with time, it is become a successful, industrial company in the field, it keeps the attention for craft production, connecting traditions and recipes to guarantee the maximum authenticity and freshness of the products for its own customers.

The company policy prefers the high-quality of the product and the processes, thanks to a careful research in the tuber harvesting areas and to an accurate selection and processing of the product inside the new factory. The Martelli Fabiano Tartufi srl uses modern technologies regarding the freezing and the sterilisation, in order to ensure high levels of food safety.

All stages of the production process take place inside the factory: the selection of the best raw material bought from gatherers, retailers or intermediaries, the cleaning, the processing, the cooking, the sterilisation, the packaging and the labelling.

All these stages follow CEE EU legislation to guarantee a wide range of safety and controlled truffle-based products.

The Martelli Fabiano Tartufi srl constantly pursues the right compromise among technology, artisanship and quality in the production and looks for the innovation in order to offer an excellent product both regarding the quality and the price.
